I’m Darryl Magher, a long-time community advocate working across Sandwell and Walsall. I’ve spent years helping residents challenge bad decisions, push for transparency, and get straight answers—mainly because I’ve never been very good at keeping quiet when something needs doing. I work closely with Friends groups, supporting parks, nature reserves, open spaces and wildlife. Mobility issues mean I’m not exactly diving into ponds or sprinting across fields, but I’m always there to advise, organise, advocate and lend a hand where I can. Protecting nature isn’t about heroics; it’s about care, consistency and refusing to let things slide. I’ve also built strong relationships with the Police and NHS, acting as a constructive “critical friend”—supportive when things go right, challenging when they don’t, and always speaking up for vulnerable residents who struggle to be heard. Whether it’s chasing issues that fall “between departments”, helping residents navigate council processes, or pushing for fairness and accountability, I try to be the person who doesn’t give up.
